WHAT’S UP DOC?
The Asian Health Foundation held a wonderful conference this last weekend. It was really stimulating for me to sit with other providers and learn more about hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Let’s not forget that hepatitis B is still among us and needs to be treated. Like HIV, hepatitis B inserts its genetic material into the nucleus of the cell and therefore becomes part of the human genome reproducing new viral particles whenever cells replicate. We never get rid of it. That’s the difference between hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Hepatitis C we actually cure it. The virus is gone forever. We measured over 600 patients in our little clinic here and we see five new hepatitis patients daily.
Our Family Practice is growing at a wonderful rate. It is nice to see people coming back to the office, remembering that the old office was only three blocks away from our new location. Every day shows new excitement. Our laboratory is ready to open. We have our final visits from the health department next week. We look forward to being able to provide this service to patients making it easier to get their blood work done here at the time of your appointment.
Our pharmacy is doing well. At this point it is a mail-based pharmacy that we hope to have a room within the building in the near future.
Every day is a gift, remember to share with everyone.
