ST.PETE PRIDE WAS HOT!
St. Petersburg is known for having the largest pride event in the state of Florida. It is estimated that over 200,000 people attend this Pride every year – despite the oppressive Florida heat and humidity. At the Love the Golden Rule Inc. booth we found that sunshine quite oppressive – but it was truly worth the effort. It was wonderful to see so many people at the festival stop by the booth and ask for information about becoming patients. With the strong growing family practice and a wonderful increase in the number of new HIV patients coming into our clinic, we have been very happy with our growth. The Hepatitis C population continues to be the large focus of the practice. We continue to see 3 to 5 new hepatitis C patients every day, and now cured over 900 patients.
We are grateful to the pharmaceutical companies for helping us provide the medication to our patients and we are grateful to our patients who are willing to take the medication. Patients that follow through with treatment, and be able to learn that they have been cured in just 8 weeks. We also thank all of those involved in producing and presenting Pride this year in St. Petersburg. It is clear that the parade and festival were both a great success. We look forward to being involved next year and many years to come.
