It’s not a coincidence

I hope you had a great day today I’ve three stories I want to share with you today is Love the Golden Rule Inc. continues to grow and get bigger every week. First, had a young woman I’ve been following for a while. We were able to get her on therapy for hepatitis C. She had been living with her family and was very concerned about her sexual orientation. She was concerned about how they would treat her and also how they would treat her a new she had hepatitis C. After starting on treatment I saw her three times. The second time she looked a little brighter. The third time, she came in with this great smile and I could to see more energy. She actually brought her girlfriend with her, and said they were making more of an effort to be public and have her family accept that they were a couple. She also told me that having hepatitis C for so long, she didn’t realize she was so tired. She was walking in the park as she’d been walking every day, and decided to run. She had been a runner for many years. She said as she started to run she felt the freedom from so many […] readmore

It’s Time to Talk More

Hello Friends Love the Golden Rule Inc. continues to thrive and grow. We’re seeing again six new patients a day nearly every day. Although this makes me very happy I’m also very sad and troubled by what’s happening in a world and more importantly what’s happening here in our own country. With the recent events at Oklahoma State in the shootings around this country I have to ask myself what’s going on in our country. Having given out nearly 4000 wristbands I’ve learned one thing. The problem in our country about the golden rule has started with the parents who are raising our current children. Most of them have no concept of the golden rule, as it can be taught in school. So I ask all of you to revisit this thought. Why not treat others the way you want to be treated yourself as a new interpretation of the golden rule, as it already is. I find that talking to people about this concept raises awareness, and by passing out wristbands I feel really good every time I do it, that someone has heard the message and I pray that they will pass it on to someone else. We can get any better if we don’t all learn to […] readmore

October 11th, 2015

This has been a great week for Love the Golden Rule Inc. The 26th year of the TIGLFF Film Festival took place this week. There were 87 films at multiple venues in Tampa Bay. We were able to promote Love the Golden Rule at many of the movies. I am out there, looking for new patients, especially those with HIV. Sonny Hotchkiss of the Hotchkiss Realty Group helped me by allowing me to tag along with his table at the venues before the films started. He is not only a great Realtor, but a great person to know. He truly practices the Golden Rule and I thank him for his help. The AIDS Smart Ride will take place in November of this year. One of the teams riding this year will be supporting Love the Golden Rule by donating to us from what is raised. Tonight, they put on a fantastic show at the Metro Wellness Center here is St Pete. The Tampa Tbac team is riding and some of the members are donating what they raise to Love the Golden Rule. I am so grateful. Thank you so much. The clinic is now open to anyone, and we see patients for a donation. It is important to give us something, […] readmore

Everything moves so fast these days

Hello Friends, Everyone seems to be in a hurry today. It’s hard to keep up. I was happy to see that the Pope reminded all of us about the golden rule. This is something I’ve been doing now for 2 1/2 years. We must do something to help our children understand respect and be able to teach them to treat each other the way they would want to be treated themselves. I want to say a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Day and his wife Cheryl. Dr. Day trained at Bayfront Medical Center a few years ahead of me. He was in practice for many years here in St. Petersburg. We are very grateful that as he closed office, he was willing to give us his medical supplies, his furniture, his exam tables, his printers, and even the pictures hanging on the wall. This has made Love the Golden Rule Inc. look so nice and is helping to complete so much of what was needed. We are continuing to move forward with the renovation of the four apartments upstairs. We have our plans approved by the city. We are working with contractors to see who will be the best to finish the project for us. We also have the […] readmore

Equality

What a wonderful week. We had the great opportunity to share in the 50th Birthday party of Nadine Smith. What a wonderful, powerful, loving and effective woman. As the leader of Equality Florida, she has given so much of herself, and has changed the lives of so many of us who needed that change. She continues to fight for the rights of the LGBT community in a way that no one else can. Having watched her evolve into the position she is in today, I am grateful for her and take every opportunity I can to listen to her speak. She is a great example of the Golden Rule. Caring for others and making sure that all are treated equally and with respect. The mission statement of Love the Golden Rule is evolving too. Now that we have the clinic open, and I am beginning to see my dreams come true, I feel even more motivation to work harder and remain optimistic about the whole project. Keep looking for the new programs to become a reality. The Obesity program I call “Better My Image” will continue to evolve. The dream of the teaching Kitchen, class rooms and vertical gardens will become a reality within the next year if we just […] readmore

Equal and Proud

In the last few weeks there have been so many events that should allow all of us as Americans to stand up, be proud, and shout out that “We all have a right to be treated as equal”. Love the Golden Rule has been saying that since it’s founding in April of 2013. We should all learn that one way we can improve our world is to treat each other the way you want to be treated yourself. I do it in every line I am standing in. I ask people “How is your day going?” or “You have a great smile, thank you for making my day brighter.” If you just try this, you will see that I am right. Your life will be filled with positive responses and new rewards. Just using the words “please” and “thank you” will almost always get you a smile in return. No, this doesn’t happen all the time, but it should. In the Clinic at 721, we have been ramping up to see more patients. We are now a Medicare and Medicaid Provider Clinic, and have 2 Medicaid plans that will be sending people to us. One is Simply Health, and that will allow me to get back to my roots in […] readmore

Neighbors

Good evening Friends. I trust that all of you had some time to relax on this Holiday weekend, and enjoy the paradise we have here in Florida. JoJo and I had a great weekend. There was time for work, play and sharing. Last weekend, on Sunday, a young man was shot and killed by the police here in my neighborhood. I did not know the family or the young man who died. It was sad to see the media sitting outside of the house 2 days later, as if they were in a Deer tent, waiting for the next victim to come forward. I went to them and asked them how would they feel if it was their family member who had been killed, and someone was sitting in cars with cameras outside their houses, waiting for “a story”Just so they could race in and catch something from a family member or a friend who might have stopped by. It is tragic, but that is what people want to see on the news.I know the reporters personally. They were just doing the job they had been told to do. I could tell they shared my feelings. Since I didn’t know the family before the tragedy, I didn’t feel it appropriate […] readmore

May 19th 2015 National Hepatitis Testing Day

Hello friends, I want to say a very special Thank You to Linda Hurtado, Matt McGlashin and the ABC Action News team for their support this week. It is so nice to get the chance to meet our local news celebrities, and find out that they are even more beautiful in person. You can feel the compassion and interest in what they do. I was really touched by them and the way they interviewed one our many wonderful women that I see at Love the Golden Rule Inc. everyday. The faces of Hepatitis C have changed so much over the last few years, and many Doctors and Nurses still have an opinion that leaves patients with Hepatitis C are “drug users”. What they are missing is that many are FORMER drug users, and so many have paid the price, done the time, and made tremendous efforts to get their lives back in order. All they need is some encouragement and a caring hand. It is amazing to see just how much that will do. I for one have learned so much from all of our patients, and can’t wait to get to my office to meet new people every day. It is concerning though, that the most common story I […] readmore

Happy Mother’s Day

There is nothing more special than a Mother’s love. My Mother has been gone for 7 years now. She had Alzheimer’s Disease and really struggled at the end. She never lost her smile and she loved everyone. In fact, the home where she was living would get he dressed each morning, have her hair combed, and then let her sit near the front door so that anyone entering would be greeted with her smile. Even though she didn’t know you, she would still smile and say Hello. She had a stroke about a year before her passing. It left her unable to talk in sentences, but just the few words she could get out would let you know what she needed or wanted, or what you needed to hear. I miss her very much. The gifts our parents give us are seen in the way we live our lives. I was taught to treat others the way I wanted to be treated myself, and that if I helped someone in need that when the time came for me to need help, there would be someone there to help. I am grateful that at this point in my life, I am happier than I have ever been. With thanks to my […] readmore

Learning to Live Life on Life’s Terms

It has been another great week at Love the Golden Rule Inc. We continue to see 5-7 new patients every day and are getting closer to being a Provider in the Medicaid System. We have already been approved as a Medicare Provider and will continue to work on other insurance companies. One thing you can do as patients is to contact your Health Care Company and ask them to add Love the Golden Rule Inc, and Dr Robert J Wallace, MD to their panel, so that you can choose us as your Healthcare Provider. I have been connecting with some of my former patients and look forward to seeing them again as their Doctor. Spread the word. If you have seen me in the past, I may be able to see you now under your Medicaid plan, or any insurance plan you may have. One of the most rewarding things for me, is to see people sitting in front of me, grasping the concept of living life by the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and then also understanding that as we give our lives to a Higher Power, the world opens up for us and there is a better way to live a healthier […] readmore
